Overview
About Crime Free Mobile Housing
The Crime Free Mobile Housing Program is tailor-made to help the mobile home community improve its standard of living by chasing the criminal element out. The police, management, and residents form a partnership to win the battle against crime and to improve the quality of life of the residents.
What does it cost? Nothing — it’s free. In fact, it may cost you money not to participate.
Property owners, managers, leasing staff, maintenance personnel and others on the management team should attend the entire training program. Police officers are encouraged to attend too, to understand the civil nature of rental communities and to build rapport with managers.

Each phase is completed under the supervision of local law enforcement.

Safety Social
For all residents
The sponsoring agency hosts a “Safety Social” covering general safety principles and crime prevention, and explains the program to residents. Management provides food, non-alcoholic drinks and entertainment — door-prize raffles are recommended. Afterwards, the community may post Crime Free Mobile Housing signs and use the logo in all advertising.

Prevention costs less than the alternative.
Why it matters
What crime costs a community
- Property damage resulting from criminal behavior
- Eviction costs
- Increased resentment and anger between residents
- Management’s fear and frustration when dealing with dangerous residents
- Good tenants move out — and as the good move out, the bad move in
In their words
What managers and owners say
“The implementation of the Mesa Crime Free Mobile Housing Program has just been the single, best improvement the property can point to.”
“The Crime Free Mobile Housing Program, when successfully implemented and properly maintained, is the single strongest method by which a property owner can easily ensure good management practices.”
“Since our introduction to the program, visitors to our property are shocked to learn that we are an ‘all age community’ and not a 55+ or senior community.”
